Learning Chat for students

Ask your teacher while the doubt is fresh.

Learning Chat is a direct line to your teachers outside class time. Send a typed question, a photo of your working, a document or a voice note, and the reply stays in the same thread for when you revise.

Why it helps

A doubt sent on Tuesday night is waiting for your teacher, not forgotten by Thursday’s class.

01

Show, do not describe

Attach a photo of your working, a PDF or a Word or PowerPoint file so your teacher sees the exact step where you got stuck. A picture of the page often explains more than a paragraph.

02

Say it aloud

Record a voice note when typing the question would take longer than asking it. Teachers can reply with voice notes too, which suits explanations that are easier heard than read.

03

Your teachers, already listed

Teachers from your batches are listed and can be messaged directly, with no contact details to swap. Filter the list by batch or search by name when you study with several teachers.

04

Threads kept by space

Conversations in an institution space stay with that institution, apart from chats with personal teachers. An unread count in the menu tells you when a reply has arrived.

From first step to follow-through

Three steps to get going.

  1. 1

    Select your teacher

Go to Learning Chat and choose a teacher from your batches, or search by name or email to request a new conversation.

  2. 2

    Send the doubt

Write your question and attach the working, document or voice note that shows exactly where you are stuck.

  3. 3

    Follow the reply

Come back when the unread badge appears, work through the answer and send a follow-up in the same thread if a step is still unclear.

Worth knowing before you start.

What can I send in Learning Chat?

Text, emoji, images, PDF, Word and PowerPoint files up to 10 MB, and voice notes up to two minutes. The message box shows these limits as you write.

Is this the same as the chat inside a video lecture?

These are two different chats. Classroom chat belongs to a single live lecture, while Learning Chat is an ongoing conversation with a teacher that you can return to from your dashboard.

Can I message a teacher who does not teach my batch?

You can search for them by name or email and send a single introduction as a request. Further messages become possible once the teacher accepts, and either person can block a conversation.
