How to Retrieve Discarded Student Assignments and Graded Submissions

Accidentally deleting an assignment removes student submissions and teacher grading records. Instant recovery restores the submission queue and all attached student files.

Deleting assignments erases student effort and grading time

When an assignment is mistakenly deleted, student photos, written answers, and the teacher's carefully typed feedback comments vanish, requiring painful resubmissions.

Restore assignment queues and student submissions

  1. Open Content Recovery from your teacher dashboard navigation bar.

  2. Filter items by 'Assignments' and locate the deleted homework task.

  3. Inspect the task details to confirm attached student submissions are present.

  4. Hit Restore to return the assignment and its complete submission history to the class.

Put it into practice

Example: Restoring a 25-student biology assignment

An assignment with 22 submitted lab diagrams is accidentally removed; restoration from the recycle bin brings back all 22 student files and existing marks intact.

Worth checking first

  • Check that submission timestamps remain preserved following restoration.
  • Notify students if an assignment deadline needs brief extension due to the disruption.
