How School Leaders Can Search and Filter Institutional Audit Logs

When an academic batch disappears or fee instalments are altered unexpectedly, leadership needs to know who made the change in seconds.

Unexplained system changes cause staff confusion and mistrust

Without an audit log, discovering that a test was closed early leads to stressful arguments across the staff room over who touched the settings.

Search and filter the central institutional audit log

  1. Open Access & Activity and click on the 'Audit Log' tab.

  2. Filter entries by Actor (who did it), Action Type (Created, Updated, Deleted), or Date.

  3. Search by member name, email address, or specific batch title.

  4. Read clear chronological entries: 'Priya Sharma updated due date on Midterm Test'.

Put it into practice

Example: Investigating an altered test closing time

A principal searches the audit log, discovering that the science coordinator extended a test deadline by 24 hours at 4:30 PM, immediately resolving a query.

Worth checking first

  • Audit logs record actions performed by heads, teachers, and system administrators.
  • Logs are immutable and cannot be edited or cleared by any user.
