How Institutions Can Assign Staff Designations and Department Roles

Flat faculty directories that do not reflect institutional leadership titles create confusion over who holds decision-making authority.

Lack of formal titles obscures operational leadership

When staff directories fail to display coordinator or HOD titles, teachers do not know which colleague to approach for curriculum approvals.

Configure hierarchical designations within each academic department

  1. Open the Department settings drawer inside Team Management.

  2. Add custom institutional designations (e.g., Head of Department, Grade Coordinator).

  3. Assign designations to specific faculty members on the department roster.

  4. Enable approval permissions on designated roles to delegate leadership duties.

Put it into practice

Example: Appointing a Science Department Head

A school designates Dr. Verma as Head of Science, empowering him to oversee faculty task completion and approve new teacher join requests.

Worth checking first

  • Designations display prominently on internal staff cards and team chats.
  • Designations can be updated instantly during annual staff reassignments.
