Batches and classes for institutions

Build classes around the way you teach.

A batch is a class or group: its students, a lead teacher and any co-teachers. You create batches for the institution, and everything taught to that group, from lectures to tests, is then recorded against it. Teachers find their batches waiting in their institution space.

Why it helps

Every timetable, attendance report and fee list starts from the same roster, so nobody maintains a second copy.

01

You control the structure

Batches inside the institution are created by heads, not by individual teachers. That keeps class names, subjects and rosters consistent across the institution, however many teachers and departments you have.

02

Shared teaching responsibility

Name one lead teacher and add co-teachers beside them. When staffing changes mid-term, you change the teachers on the batch and the class carries on without being rebuilt.

03

The whole class record

A batch page lists its members, its lectures with attendance, and every test, assignment and quiz game set for it. An export is there when you need a copy for your files.

04

Archive, don’t delete

When a term ends, archive the batch so it drops out of teachers’ and students’ active lists while nothing is deleted. A batch you delete by mistake can be restored from the recycle bin within 15 days.

From first step to follow-through

Set it up in three steps.

  1. 1

    Create a batch

Give the batch a name and subject, choose its lead teacher and add any co-teachers who share the class.

  2. 2

    Add its students

Pick from students already enrolled in your institution, searching by name. Anyone new is invited from the Students page first.

  3. 3

    Build on it

Give the batch a weekly timetable, let teachers start lectures and set work for it, and pull its students into a fee group.

What heads usually ask.

Can more than one teacher teach a batch?

Each batch has one lead teacher and can have co-teachers alongside them. You can change either whenever you edit the batch.

Can teachers create their own batches inside the institution?

Institution batches are created by heads, so the structure stays under your control. Teachers can still run personal batches in their own space, and those never appear in your institution.

What happens to a batch at the end of term?

Archive it and it leaves the active lists for teachers and students, with nothing deleted. You can restore an archived batch later if the group returns.
